Kingston: Discovering The Beauty Of First Capital Of Canada

Last weekend I visited a small city situated in between Montreal and Toronto. The city used to function as a French trading post. I visited the downtown area with my buddy Luke.   We took our time and learned about the history of the city. There are loads of things to do in Kingston. Take a look at the best things that you can explore.

  • Go exploring the fort

Kingston Royal Naval Dockyard was protected by Fort Henry. Visit this national historic site when you are in this city to get to know about its history. I got to witness the military interpreters giving demonstrating the life of the British military. You can also watch garrison parade and reenactments of historical events. Want to be adventurous? Fire is in a rifle.

  • Check out the military museum

Want to learn more about military history? Do not miss pout o the Royal Military College. There is a museum in the college campus and is also run by it. You will come across a collection of artifacts, records, and research. What’s surprising is that the museum houses over 7000 items that date back to the First World War.

  • Go to the theatre

One of the finest theatres that you will find in the city is the Grand Theatre. After I visited, I came to know that it is also a historical site. It was opened in the year 1902 and has organized several performances. It can accommodate 776 people and has an orchestra pit. Apart from this, there is a black box theatre with 105 sitting capacity.

  • Sail along St. Lawrence

Go over to Crystal Park Marina to experience an incredible sail. I also went canoeing and kayaking. If you want, you can get down your own boat or hire someone to take you for a boat ride. Want to spend a night along the river? Rent a cabin and have a relaxing time.
